  3. Leap day is on February 29 in Gregorian calendar. It occurs in most years that are evenly divisible by 4, such as 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016. This year is called leap years. Most years of modern calendar have 365 days, but in fact, a complete revolution around the sun takes about 365 days ad 6 hours. So every four years have extra 24 hours, and one extra day is added to keep the count. According to Urban Legends, persons who born on leap day, February 29, are called "leaplings" or "leapers". It is 75 percent fewer birthday than others.

  5. according to Wikipedia:
February 29, known as a leap day in the Gregorian calendar, is a date that occurs in most years that are evenly divisible by 4, such as 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016. Years that are evenly divisible by 100 do not contain a leap day, with the exception of years that are evenly divisible by 400, which do contain a leap day; thus 1900 did not contain a leap day while 2000 did. Years containing a leap day are called leap years. February 29 is the 60th day of the Gregorian calendar in such a year, with 306 days remaining until the end of that year.

  6. Leap Day is February 29, which is the extra day during a year. I only occurs during Leap Year. And Leap Year occurs every four years, except for years ending in 00, in which case only if the year is divisible by 400. According to an old Irish legend, women were allowed to propose men on this day. This is believed to have been introduced to balance the traditional roles of men and women in a similar way to how Leap Day balances the calendar.

  7. February 29, 2012, known as a leap day in the Gregorian Calendar, is a date that occurs in most years that are evenly divisible by 4. The earth turns roughly 36 and a quarter times on its axis by the time it has completed a full year's orbit around the sun. It means that periodically the calendar has to catch up the convention of leap year. A leap year contains one extra day, February 29.
And its tradition is represented by romantic tradition called "Ladies' Privilege." The convention was (in literature, if not in reality) that any man who refused such a proposal owed his spurned suitor a silk gown and a kiss — provided she was wearing a red petticoat at the moment she popped the question.

  9. Leap day is the last day of the February, and it falls on 29th February. As you know this is a special day for people who follow Gregorian Calendar. Because it happens once in 4 years so it is an important day for many countries. According to “www.timeanddate.com” Ever since Leap years were introduced over 2000 years ago with the transition from Roman Calendar to Julian Calendar in 45 BCE (Before common era) There are some traditions which are done by countries. The proposal of women to men is one of those cases.
According to an old Irish legend, St Patrick allows women to propose to men in every 4 years. This tradition is believed to balance the traditional roles of men and women in a similar way to how Leap Day balances the calendar. But if men refuse a marriage proposal from a woman on leap day, in many European countries, especially in the upper class of society, they have to buy her 12 pairs of gloves. These gloves are put on to hide the embarrassment of not having an engagement ring. Moreover People born on February 29 are all invited to join the honor society of leap day babies. Also some of the families take place in the Guinness book.

  10. Leap year is for completing revolution around the sun takes approximately 365days. Every four-year we have leap day which is 29th Feb. It is 60th days later from 1st of Jan. It remains 306days until the end of that year.
Why does it exist? We have slightly inaccurate to calculate an additional 6 hours each year. In detail, we have 365days, 5hours,49 minute and 16 seconds each year.

  11. Leap Day is known as February 29 that does not come in ordinary year.
It comes once a 4 years. Such a day happens cause of the movements of heavenly bodies and earth's rotational speed. According to wikipedia, although most years of the modern calendar have 365 days, a complete revolution around the sun takes approximately 365 days and 6 hours. Every 4 years, during which a extra 24 hours have accumulated, one extraordinary is added to keep the count conditions with sun's apparent position.
A person who wis bron on February 29 is called "leapling" or leap year born". In non-leap years, they celebrate their birth day on February 28 of March 1st. Including to my country, Japan, many countries use "Leapday".
